What are your thoughts?

http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/239600

Above is the link to an interesting article I recently found. I am interested in what people think when they read this article: do you agree or disagree? Are the majority of people we encounter only nice when they want something from us? And how are certain characteristics (age, gender, race, etc...) a factor in how people react to general kindness?

  1. I think there are people who will be more nice and generous when they have an alternative motive. It's kinda sad to think about it. But on a daily basis I believe people are nice just because they are nice

  2. I think it's a little unfair for the author of the article to get mad that the man he interviewed didn't previously acknowledge him around the gym. Most people act way more friendly at work because that's what they're getting paid to do. I know I put on a more friendly persona at work because that's what I'm expected to do. I don't get paid to be nice outside of work (not saying I'm a mean person outside of work!) but I'm not overly nice at work because I'm expecting to get something from it, I do it because it's in my job description. I get what the author is saying, but I mainly disagree with him.
